A Piece of Sweden in Tuscany

The Unique Atmosphere of Schiaccia Ghiande

In the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by the picturesque countryside of Massa Marittima, lies the Agriturismo Schiaccia Ghiande estate. It’s a place where Cecilia Cappelli and Mario Schurter have brought their vision of sustainable and innovative agritourism to life. Since taking over in November 2019, they have transformed the once exclusively agricultural farm into a thriving oasis of tranquility and relaxation for guests from all over the world.

"We bought the estate from a elderly couple who were no longer able to run it. Despite the extensive renovation work, we saw the great potential,’ recalls Cecilia. With a mixture of hard work and the help of experts, they have turned Schiaccia Ghiande into a jewel in the Tuscan landscape.

They quickly decided to turn the farm into a home for their family and a centre for agritourism. ‘When we found this place, it was love at first sight. I gave up my flower shop to devote myself entirely to running the agritourism centre, while Mario found a home for his mountain bike school,’ says Cecilia.

A special feature of Schiaccia Ghiande is the wood-fired hot tub, which fits perfectly within the Tuscan landscape and offers guests a unique experience. The hot tub, carefully selected and placed, offers an intimate and cosy atmosphere that enables a deep connection with the surrounding nature. ‘The possibility of using the hot tub during the colder months enhances the experience for our guests, who can enjoy the Tuscan countryside in complete privacy at any time of year,’ explains Mario.

There is something special about sitting in the warm water and enjoying the pristine view of the landscape.

The Skargards hot tub was chosen back in 2022 for its natural aesthetic. The couple found the materials and colours to be in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Comfort and well-being are top priorities for Cecilia and Mario.

The popularity of Schiaccia Ghiande lies not only in its scenic beauty, but also in the passion and dedication with which the couple pursues their agritourism dream. They have created a special place for themselves and their guests. Here you can witness the beauty of the Tuscan countryside combined with Cecilia and Mario’s innovative ideas. It’s what makes their agritourism a unique destination for lovers of authentic Italy.
