“I came for the nature and stayed because of the people,” she says, describing the warm community that facilitated her new beginning.

In 2023, she realised her vision of a retreat that offers relaxation and inspiration in the heart of nature. She chose the name FURU, inspired by the Norwegian word for “pine” – a tree that symbolizes strength, renewal, and resilience, values that have also guided Friederike on her journey.

The mirror cabins she created blend seamlessly into the landscape, reflecting the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Friederike, who loves spending her free time on horseback, regularly explores Norway’s forests and mountains. Her foster horse accompanies her on these excursions, which provide not only a welcome escape from daily life but also a valuable source of inspiration for her retreat.

A special highlight is the wood-fired hot tub from Skargards, which completes the mirror cabin experience. “The crackling fire, the warmth of the water, the silence of nature – all of it brings me a sense of harmony and balance,” she explains. Her conscious decision to choose a wood-fired hot tub underscores her deep connection with nature, adding an authentic and original quality to the stay.
